Upholsterer - Sofa Manufacturing

Location: PrestonTraining pay: £13.50 per hour for 9 monthsAfter training: £12.71 per hour plus uncapped piece-rate payments

We are looking for an experienced Upholsterer to join our sofa manufacturing team in Preston. You will work on a range of upholstered furniture, helping to produce high-quality sofas in a busy factory environment.

Pay and earning potential

During the 9-month training period, you will receive £13.50 per hour while learning the products, processes, and quality standards.

After successfully completing the training period, the basic hourly rate will be £12.71, plus additional piece-rate payments. There is no cap on piece-rate earnings, giving skilled and productive upholsterers the opportunity to increase their overall pay.

Key responsibilities

• Upholster sofas and other furniture to the required quality standards.

• Fit fabric, foam, padding, and other upholstery materials.

• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.

• Follow manufacturing specifications and production targets.

• Inspect completed work and correct any quality issues.

• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace.

• Work closely with colleagues to meet daily production requirements.

Skills and experience

• Previous upholstering experience is essential but a qualifications are not essential.

• Experience using power tools.

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or factory environment is ideal.

• Good attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.

• Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced production setting.

• Good practical skills and manual dexterity.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to lift heavy materials
