Job Description
Flintshire County Council is seeking a proactive and experienced Transport Area Coordinator - Technical to join our team temporarily. Reporting to the Integrated Transport Unit (ITU) Manager, you will play a vital role in co-ordinating and overseeing transport arrangements across Flintshire, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality services. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to deliver exceptional service to diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Operations Management: Co-ordinate public, home-to-school, SEN, community, and adult social care transport services within your geographical area.
Customer Service: Act as the main point of contact for parents, customers, and stakeholders, delivering excellent service and resolving inquiries and complaints efficiently.
Contract & Financial Oversight: Manage supplier contracts, ensure compliance, monitor performance, and oversee transport budgets to achieve value for money.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all transport activities align with health and safety standards, promoting a safety-first culture.
Supervision & Team Management: Oversee the performance of school transport escorts/passenger assistants, ensuring high standards in customer care and safety.
Stakeholder Engagement: Foster positive relationships with internal and external partners, promoting sustainable travel and infrastructure initiatives.
Data Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate records, prepare statistical reports, and ensure the team meets performance targets.
Procurement Support: Assist in procurement exercises, tender evaluations, and contract management activities in partnership with the Procurement Service.
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience in transport coordination or a similar operational role.
Supervisory experience, particularly in managing teams or contractors.
Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with a variety of stakeholders.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Knowledge of transport legislation and best practices.
Financial management skills, including budget monitoring and invoice processing.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic records management.

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £17.12 per hour
