Architectural Design Manager

Location - Bodelwyddan

Schedule - Monday - Friday 8.30-17:00

Pay Scale - Up to £65,000 Negotiable dependant on experience

Our client is a leader in the construction industry throughout England and Wales both in the private and public sectors and known for innovative design and processes. They are seeking a Design Manager to join their team.

The successful applicant will manage all the processes in relation to producing a set of drawings from which a building can be built and coordinates across the entire construction process. This involves:

  • Managing a design team.

  • Leading project meetings.

  • Overseeing internal and external design teams.

  • Liaising with other teams/departments.

  • Encouraging and inspiring design consultants to produce their best work using flair, experience, resources and talents in a cost-effective way.

  • Supporting, understanding and advising the client as to the requirements their obligations in the development of a new design.

  • Ensuring design information is of the right quality, keeps pace with project timescales and is readily available to those who need it.

  • Maintaining thorough documentation of all processes.

  • Implementation and management of BIM Level 2 requirements for Design & Build Projects.

  • Keeping up to date with changing legislation and codes of practice to ensure compliance and ensuring the design process reflects current legislation, standards and codes of practice, where appropriate.

  • Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction.


Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing design elements of construction projects.

  • Full knowledge of MS Office suite, including MS Project.

  • Basic knowledge of Autodesk REVIT.

  • Knowledge of Trimble 4-projects would be an advantage.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • HNC/HND/degree in Construction Management or Architecture/ BSc in Design and Construction Management.

  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of a construction project.

  • Forward planning skills.

  • A thorough understanding of technical, regulatory and commercial issues as well as pure design considerations.

  • Good communication to facilitate effective liaison with other departments.

  • Strong motivational skills to manage large teams with different goals and enable them to work together to produce a coordinated and coherent design.
